About JEFES

About Us

Our Mission

Jefe is the Spanish word for boss.  Jefes is a community space focused on increasing Latinx representation in tech, the arts, finance and business. We saw a lack of actionable, practical content aimed at showcasing inspirational stories of achievement and leadership by the Latinx community within industries and spaces that traditionally lack diversity, and that created roadmaps toward empowering individuals to start and grow companies, pursue promotions, and strengthen their networks. We hope to create an inclusive community where our members can make new connections, ask for advice and mentorship, and find the tools to advance within their careers - to be the boss. Join us and become part of the movement!

Alex Esparza - Founder

Alex has spent over a decade in working on Wall Street and in tech, and wanted to create a community where Latinx professionals and students could support each other throughout their careers, and demonstrate the power, talent and diversity of the Latinx community. She has a BA from Stanford and an MBA from Yale, and was born and raised in the great city of Chicago, but now resides in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
